pecialist & Utility Vehicles (SUV) IPT has confirmed that its recently launched Disposal and Search EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) vehicle, TELLAR, will make its first visit to DVD on 27th and 28th June at Millbrook. The vehicle was launched last month at the Royal Engineer’s headquarters in Camberley, and is the MoD’s new protected vehicle supplied to the Royal Engineer community to enable Conventional Munitions Disposal (CMD) and Search personnel to move to various locations whilst on operations. The vehicle replaces the current fleet of Land Rover vehicles being used by the Royal Engineers.
Weighing in at 9.5 tonnes, TELLAR is capable of reaching speeds of up to 100kph. It has been classified as having medium mobility cross country and is capable of carrying

allof the equipment required by the end user to undertakeCMD. TELLAR has been fitted as an Emergency Response Vehicle (i.e. blue light enabled), with a mobile phone, force protection suite, a personal address system and two GPS systems; BOWMAN radio GPS and Commercial Off The Shelf GPS. The vehicle also comes fitted with a level of riot protection.
The new fleet of 18 TELLAR vehicles represents a £7.5million investment from the MoD. 14 vehicles will be initially deployed on operations with the remaining four held in the UK for training and reserves. The vehicles will deploy with the Joint EOD forces in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
