number of Raytheon Systems were tested in simulation at the Paris Air Show by the DefenceIntegration.org team. Vigilant Eagle exhibited with an impressive simulation and sample of technologies. Vigilant Eagle is an affordable, ground based airport protection system that uses high power microwave technology to protect commercial aircraft from shoulder-fired

missiles. Vigilant Eagle creates a dome of protection around an airport that protects all aircraft. Missiles are identified and tracked, and a High-power Amplifier-

eliminator, a type of radio receiver power supply that plugged into the power grid in place of large batteries. The company changed its name to Raytheon in 1925, and by the 1930s it had grown to become one of the larger vacuum tube manufacturing companies. A similar business development to Marconi who also still produce the massive magnetron lightbulbs used in microwave applications today.

During the 2nd world war Raytheon manufactured magnetron tubes for use in radar sets and then produced the complete radar systems. Today Raytheon is diversified and is composed of six different business enterprises which are:

Transmitter (HAT) radiates a beam of directed electromagnetic energy to disrupt the missile and divert it away from the target aircraft. Anika from the DefenceIntegration.org Team tested the ‘Fire and Forget’ infra-red based Javelin – a transportable missile system.
