Nidhi asked: What is TCS role in development of Space Vehicle Technology?

TCS Answered: TCS as part of its Aerospace Industry vertical participates in various development projects with Space Industry customers and supports them in various areas like space structures development, materials characterization and manufacturing technologies development.

Nidhi asked: How does TCS perceive the changes in Air Weapons System Integration particularly given TCS involvement in Navigational and Weapon Aiming Systems? The move within the industry is towards developing civilian implementations based on engineers rather than government civil service teams implementing weapons on to platforms. Cost savings to governments are as high as £50m per weapon implementation on to any new aircraft. What is TCS perception of this emerging industry, does TCS offer the Implementation service of hardware to complement their Navigational and Weapon Aiming
Systems?

TCS Answered: TCS team has the experience of working on navigation and weapon aiming systems for military platforms. Today, the technology of simulating the weapons trajectory is being used extensively for training pilots during actual flight, without having any real weapon on-board. More advanced simulations can provide indications of actual point of weapon impact, without releasing any weapon. These techniques of advanced simulation save enormous time and effort in training the fighter pilots, by cutting down on the number of sorties flown and actual weapons dropped.

TCS has the required hardware and software development expertise available in house to deliver modeling and simulation solutions for such applications.

Nidhi asked. In the field of GPS, which product offerings from TCS utilize Indian Satellite Programs. In the field of telecommunications how does TCS expect the Indian Satellite Communicattion programs to dominate the global market in the coming decade? Otherwise how much does the development of the Indian economy rely on the successful implementation of satellite programs currently ongoing in India?

Nidhi asked: Finally, what are the obstacles to progress in GPS Systems and also the Indian Telecommunications Satellite Programs?

TCS Answered: Geospatial Technology Practice and Telecom vertical are providing solutions in this domain. In the communication and remote sensing satellites area, India has already registered its technology prowess. (Example: European satellites for these applications are being built and launched from India)

India has developed modules of GPS systems for military application. These modules are configurable for civil application and needs investment in large-scale production units.
